Brit Insurance has appointed Mike Davidson as managing director for Sydney following the establishment of its own Australian office replacing its previous third party arrangement.

Located in Sydney’s financial district, it will provide local representative services initially for the company’s reinsurance activities.

The office will be headed by Mike Davidson, who takes up his position as managing director with immediate effect.

Brit said that Mr Davidson has extensive experience at a senior level in the Australian and New Zealand reinsurance markets and is well known to brokers and ceding companies in these territories.

He will be responsible for marketing and promoting Brit Insurance throughout the region, sourcing potential new business and managing existing relationships.

Jonathan Turner, chief executive of Brit Reinsurance, said: “Mike has represented Brit Insurance through a third party relationship office for several years. His excellent knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand markets will allow us to further develop meaningful local relationships with our key brokers and clients in the region.”
