PartnerRe has said it expects initial claims worth $220m-$320m, on a pretax basis, related to the recent devastating earthquake in Chile.

In a statement, the company also said it expected claims of $40m-$70m related to the European windstorm Xynthia that swept across several European countries causing extensive damage last month.

The claims are expected to be contained primarily within global property and casualty, catastrophe and Paris Re divisions.

The loss estimate is net of reinstatement premium and retrocession.
